James Smith, (NORTH DELTA REPORTER) — Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation has completed its $8-million fundraising campaign for the new Jim Pattison Endoscopy Unit at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care, thanks to a “transformational” $500,000 gift from Ryan and Cindy Beedie.
The Beedies’ gift marks the successful conclusion of a community-wide effort to create a modern, purpose-built endoscopy unit that will improve access to lifesaving screening and diagnostic procedures for Delta residents and surrounding communities, according to a foundation press release.
Ryan and Cindy Beedie — president of industrial and residential real estate company Beedie, and executive director of the Beedie Foundation, respectively — previously made a record-setting $5-million gift toward the future Beedie Long-Term Care Centre.
Their latest contribution ensures another major health-care project can move forward fully funded.
“Good care shouldn’t mean a long wait when you’re worried about your health. Giving back to our community matters a lot to us, and Cindy and I are happy to help get the funding for the much-needed endoscopy unit over the finish line for the residents of Delta and its surrounding communities,” Ryan Beedie said in a press release.
“We’d also like to thank everyone at the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation who worked so hard to make this important project a reality.”
The new Jim Pattison Endoscopy Unit will replace the hospital’s aging, undersized endoscopy space with a state-of-the-art facility designed to meet current and future health-care needs, according to a foundation press release.
The project will be more than 3,000 square feet (expanded from 775 square feet) and feature advanced endoscopy technology, dedicated procedure and recovery areas, enhanced infection control standards, and improved patient flow.
Once complete, the unit will help reduce wait times and ensure more patients can access care close to home.
“Ryan and Cindy have once again demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to our community,” foundation CEO Lisa Hoglund said in a press release. “Their generosity has brought this campaign to a successful close and will have a lasting impact on health care in Delta.
“Because of their leadership, and the support of hundreds of donors throughout our community, patients will benefit from earlier diagnosis, shorter wait times, and access to essential care close to home for years to come.”
Since launching in November 2025, the campaign has inspired support from across the community, helping fund a project that will improve early detection, diagnostic care, and patient outcomes for generations.
Construction is currently underway, with the new Jim Pattison Endoscopy Unit expected to welcome its first patients in 2027.
